2015 :: It’s Not Just a Daydream if You Decide to Make it Your Life

2015 sounds so refreshing doesn’t it?

Take a deep breath…..HELLO 2015!

Last year was magical for me; my husband graduated top of his class in Aerospace Engineering, my best friend had the most gorgeous wedding, we moved to Denver, escaped to the mountains for our dream wedding, honeymooned in Kauai, started a new and exciting career with Floyd’s 99 Barbershop and all the same things in between! Yes, 2014 was an amazing build up to NOW!

2015 is the year of NOW for me! No more waiting to start my dream! I am diving in and nothing is stopping me! I have been reading, researching, networking, brainstorming, saving, evolving, learning, STRESSING, and fantasizing about my business! Now that I have the time and energy to focus on this dream, it’s gaining speed. I suffer for instant gratification, like ‘right this instant’ instant gratification, when I want something I want the whole thing done like yesterday. Fortunately, this whole process is teaching me to slow down. With that, I am dying to share my current progress, but will hold off until its all official!

TEASE, I know, but I will share that Mackenzie Nemeth Photography is not the future for me; I will be going in a whole new, very specific direction.  I have found a niche that I am passionate about and see a world of opportunity in.

I will be pursuing this niche 100% and striving to specialize in it!

Can’t wait to update you, SOON!

Crested Butte :: Where We Invested Our Love…

I believe it was fate that introduced Crested Butte to me. Far before Bud Light and Whatever, USA came about! Jeromey wanted to get married in the mountains, we knew we would be moving to Denver before we tied the knot, and one morning The View happened to be on in the background and I heard “Where is the best place to see fall colors.” See, since I don’t watch The View, it just happened to be background noise, I knew it was fate, that and the answer to this question was in Colorado. Crested Butte, Colorado.

I had it scribbled down somewhere in my early wedding planning stages, but for some reason overlooked it and tossed it to the side. I googled’it more and just had to see it for myself.

It was magic. Not just for our wedding, but all of it! It was the first and last place we looked at for out wedding.

These photos are from our second and last trip to CB before the wedding in early August. Great side note, CB is also Colorado’s Wildflower Capital!

San Francisco :: Definitely a Full House

In the nearly eight years I lived in California, I never went to San Francisco. Instead, I waited until I moved to Colorado then went back West to see what SF was all about. It was…interesting to say the least. Very unique. My visit was short, just a long weekend, but I sure enjoyed exploring the many parts of San Francisco!

Yosemite :: My Kinda Spring Break

“Yosemite Valley, to me, is always a sunrise, a glitter of green and golden wonder in a vast edifice of stone and space.” -Ansel Adams

Ahhhhhhh, spring break! Most instantly think of drinks by the pool. Not me, not us. With only two months left until out big move back to the Midwest and time to check off #1 on our Socal bucket list, we took off to Yosemite!

Yup, nothing like mountains and early morning COLD hikes for spring break!

Our trip was cut a little short as we somehow forgot that unlike San Diego, it’s not summer everywhere all the time. Some major roads were still closed due to snow/weather and we didn’t make it to a few of our top spots.

None the less, it was so worth it and Yosemite will hold a place in my heart!

Salvation Mountain :: Heaven in the Desert

IMG_6921

Salvation Mountain has been on my bucket list for years.

When I heard that Leonard Knight passed about a few weeks ago I was more than upset, he was Salvation Mountain. I wanted to meet him just as much as I wanted to see his life’s masterpiece. So with a day off and my days left in Southern California growing sparse we took off East for a day trip.

It was HOT in the desert; I know what you’re saying, ‘well, duh!’ But it was only the middle of March and it was approaching 90° with the sun directly overhead. Leonard worked in 100°+ weather during the summer!  Leonard lived in the back of an old fire truck for 26 years, no running water or electricity, painting and building Salvation Mountain to help spread the word that “God is Love.” His story is much more than I can explain in a blog but I highly encourage you to look into his amazing life and what he left behind, and if you can go experience it for yourself do yourself and favor and do it! It is the most interesting, amazing, touching, beautiful, yet unbelievable thing I have ever seen, and maybe will ever see. Cross my heart.

Please keep in mind while looking through these images that all this was created by one man, starting in his mid fifties until he was eighty.  IMG_6881

Happy New Year :: Big Bear Lake, CA

I guess you could say we are getting ‘older’, or as I like to put it ‘wiser’. Instead of paying a small fortune to try and get wasted with a bunch of people we don’t know, we opted to pay that small fortune and escape to the mountains with the best of company 🙂

2013 was yet another amazing year, all around! However, I just COULD NOT WAIT to get 2014 started! 2014 has SO MUCH in store for us; Jeromey is graduating SDSU with a degree in Aerospace Engineering, we are moving to Denver, getting married, honeymooning in Kauai, and I plan to start my own business shorty after! PHEW! See what I mean? 2014 is going to be EPIC!

Happy New Year, I hope you are as excited about this year as I am!

The Unforgettable Trip :: Nashville, South Bend, and everything in between

Ok, I may be a little late on this post as I got back from this vacation two months ago!

I had been looking forward to this trip for about four years, well not exactly this trip but going to South Bend for a Notre Dame football game.

IMG_5571

Jealousy took over that my younger brother was going to games every year and I was not. So, last season I said ‘THAT’S IT, I AM GOING NEXT SEASON!’  I got to planning; getting my family on board and fate stepped in. I received a voucher earlier in the year that ended up covering my entire flight! With out that voucher, I really don’t know what I was thinking putting this trip together while planning a wedding! I however, believe life is too short and $$$ should never stop you (within reason!)

Anyway, once I finally got to Nashville a day late due to weather conditions in Denver resulting in missing my connection and lost luggage, I was a bit lack-luster to say the least. The whole ordeal was full of drama, but I will save the whining.  Looking on the bright side ,I got to spend the night in Denver, my future home, with my bestie and my luggage was retrieved shortly after landing!

Alright Nashville, lets see what ya got!

IMG_5457 IMG_5458 IMG_5459 IMG_5460 IMG_5464  IMG_5468 IMG_5465 IMG_5472 IMG_5473

OH.MY.GOD. do I LOVE this town. Nashville won me over almost instantly! Hello; amazing BBQ on every corner, LIVE country music in every bar, cheap drinks; what is NOT to love? I was sad I didn’t get the couple of days I had been planning on, but I was grateful for the evening my brother, his girlfriend, and I had!  We ate at Jack’s Bar-B-Que, unfortunately all BBQ I will eat from here on out will never compare!  SO GOOD! Then we parked our butts at the Honkey Tonk Central, got ourselves buckets of beer (which turned into shots), enjoyed live music and some baseball on TV. Now here is where my lack-luster really turned around; the second band came around for song requests and instantly, without even thinking, Fishing in the Dark came out of  my mouth! Duh right? He was so pumped, I was so pumped(minus the fact he dubbed me ‘California’)IMG_5469

A bucket list come true, I danced to Fishing in the Dark in Nashville, TN!

The night had to come to an end and on to Evansville, IN, where my brother and his girlfriend reside.

CUTE little town! Krista and I even found a good little sushi place!

Even more exciting that finding good sushi in the middle of the Mid-West, is the crazy amount of AMAZING antique malls there! My Mom and I were in heaven!

Another exciting and bucket-list-checking event happened; you have seen the movie A League of Their Own right? Of course you have!

IMG_5481Many scenes form the movie were filmed at  Bosse Field, right there in Evansville! The ballpark was built in 1915, making it the third-oldest ballpark still in regular use in the US. This was a very specialty treat for me, cameras in tow, the manager of the Otters let us in for a few shots!

IMG_5484 IMG_5485 IMG_5486 IMG_5507 IMG_5515 IMG_7724 IMG_7758

Then it was across the street for more BBQ and sweet tea!

Fast forward through alot of driving and a couple days we were finally in South Bend Indiana! Home of the University of Notre Dame! Where I have been yearning to be for years! Haven’t set foot here since, well I believe 2005. My whole family came out for this, my Mom and her husband, my Dad, and a couple of my brothers friends from high school. We made it in time for the pep rally Friday night and the tunnel walk through.

The unforgettable in this unforgettable trip came from that night. (cliff hanger…..)

Saturday morning was a slow moving adventure, but once we got to the campus things started to look up. The atmosphere at ND on game day is UNREAL! It will turn anyone into a ND fan, whether or not they admit this is another thing. I saw plenty of USC fans posing with Touchdown Jesus and buying blue and gold memorabilia at the book store!

You bet we picked the great rivalry game between ND and SC, cherry on top: NIGHT GAME! We had a few hours to walk around the campus, take pics,  and enjoy all the traditional festivities at Notre Dame! It could not have been a more perfect day or game.

This trip was emotionally, physically, and spiritually draining! (for reasons I did not go into detail) I wish I could say that I wouldn’t change anything about the trip, but I do wish I could. However,  it was what it was and I will NEVER forget this trip and I will keep these memories made with my family forever.
